Introduction
Sri Lanka is today a popular tourist destination with a variety of facets to please the most discerning traveler.

The country is well known for its miles of unspoiled beaches and history that dates back more than 2000 years.This deep-rooted past, which is well documented by the magnificent archaeological remains, has contributed to the culture and life styles of the people.

A lesser known fact is that the central region of the Island is a ruggedly beautiful "Hill Country" which rises to an evation of about 2500 meters.The route to this area is through narrow passes between many ranges of hills with breathtaking views all around.

This mountain area of Sri Lanka is a veritable paradise for the dedicated hiker.

Two distinctly different areas are used for our programme -

The Kandyan hills with lush tropical vegetation,thick forests, farming villages and moderate temperatures from 15 - 25 C.

The Nuwara Eliya area with it's much higher elevation, colder temperature 10C°– 20C°, temperate vegetation and tea ations.

The totally different conditions on the programme create an interesting balance, which adds to the enjoyment of the client.

ITINERARY
Day 01

Arrival at the airport & transfer to Colombo.P.M. City tour.Overnight Hotel Intercontinental or similar.

Day 02
Leave for Kandy.P.M. Sightseeing of Kandy including The Botanical Gardens,Temple of the Tooth, Arts & crafts nufactures and Market place.Overnight Hilltop/Casamara

Day 03
Leave Kandy early morning for a trekking programmes through the Knuckles Range of mountains.The trek begins from a tea plantation at the base of the range. The days programme is a climb on rough trails through the plantation, which progresses through scrub jungle and forests descending in to the valley on the eastern side of the range to the little farming village of Meemure, which is only accessible by foot. The descent is on rough trails and a few streams need to be forded en te.Dinner & Overnight at the campsite.Total days trek approximately 07 hrs.

Day 04
A.M.Explore the village & watch traditional farmers at work.Dinner & Overnight at the campsite in Meemure.Trek approximately 04 hrs.

Day 05
Break camp and start trek through forest trails to "Corbet's Gap", a climb of 500 meters.Corbet's Gap - named after the Englishman who discovered it, is a vast split in the range of Kandyan hills, through which on a clear day an amazing view is possible.You could see as far as the Indian Ocean on the east & West Coast of Sri Lanka.3 KMS beyond this point the back up vehicles meet clients and transfer to Kandy.Overnight Hilltop/Casamara Total days trek approximately 07 hrs.

Day 06
Leave for Haldamulla via Nuwara Eliya.Sightseeing of Nuwara Eliya including a visit to a Tea plantation and factory and proceed to Horton Plains Lodge which is a bungalow located on the western ridge of the central mountains.Overnight Horton Plains Lodge.

Day 07
Trek to Bambarakanda Falls,highest fall in Sri Lanka (241m) The total trek is approximately 06 hrs and a packed lunch will be carried for consumption en-route.Overnight Horton Plains Lodge.

Day 08
Trek to Horton Plains.This is a trek of approximately 5 hrs with a packed lunch en route.The route ascends through scrub jungle and tea estates and the final 5-KM are on the vast plains at an elevation of 2016 m After 4 hrs of trek back up vehicles meet clients and could shuttle any client if necessary to the Camp site/Dormitory Overnight Camp site/Dormitory

Day 09
A.M. Trek to "Worlds End" and the beautiful "Bakers Falls".M. trek to Thotapola peak–one of the highest mountain in Sri Lanka rising to 2357 m above sea level Overnight Camp site/Dormitory

Day 10
Trek across the plains and descend through tea plantation trails to Diyagama Estate where vehicle meet clients.An easy downhill walk of approximately 8 km, 4 hrs.Transfer to Upper Glencairn Bungalows at Dick Oya or Devon Estate Bungalows, Talawakele. These former tea Planter’s bungalows are ideally located with a panoramic view of lake or waterfalls and surrounding mountains.Overnight Upper Glencairn or Devon Estate Bungalows.

Day 11
Relax during the day and prepare for the strenuous climb of Adam's Peak. Departure from Bungalows is after dinner and
the climb begins at approximately 12 midnight, in order to reach the summit by dawn to witness the sunrise.

Day 12
Descend peak on the western slope to Ratnapura where vehicles meet clients and transfer to Colombo.Overnight ntinental or similar 5 star hotel.

Due to the limited accommodation at the campsite and other logistical factors the programme is offered for 4 - 10 pax only.

Accommodation is in moderate hotels/lodges except at campsites (2 nights) in 2/3 person tents. At the Horton Plains Lodge (2 nights) and Tea Planters Bungalows (01 night) accommodation is limited & 3 - 4 pax may need to share rooms.

Meals at hotels will be on set-menu. Packed lunches will be consumed on days 03, 04, 05, 07, 08 (these packed lunches are simple - sandwiches, biscuits, cheese & fruit).

Hot meals are prepared for dinner & breakfast at each campsite.

All food, camp equipment and basic medical kit is carried by crew.

During the 2 or 4 nights at camps toilet facilities are rough (Toilet tent & pit).

Timings given include stops for meals / rest. Maximum duration without rest is 2 hrs.

Dress - Lightweight cotton clothing for trek through Knuckles region. Pullovers, windbreaker and warm clothing are essential for the Horton Plains area where temperature can drop to 5°C.Strong walking shoes & Sun hat/cap.

Clients equipment - Water bottle, torch, strong insect repellant, suntan lotion/cream, anti malaria pills, sleeping bag, water proof mat, light pack with space for lunch packs small vacuum flask (for hot/cold drinks) and clothes for 02 nights on Knuckles trek.
